American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine – „American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine is the professional organization for physicians specializing in hospice and palliative medicine. Membership is also open to nurses and other health care providers who are committed to improving the quality of life of patients and families facing life-threatening or serious conditions. For more than 25 years, the Academy has dedicated itself to advancing hospice and palliative medicine and improving the care of patients with life-threatening or serious conditions. Originally organized as the Academy of Hospice Physicians in 1988, the Academy began with 250 charter members and has grown to nearly 5,000 today”.

CareSearch palliative care knowledge network – „CareSearch is an online resource designed to help those needing relevant and trustworthy information and resources about palliative care. The website has been funded by the Australian Government 's Department of Health and Ageing. There are sections designed specifically for health professionals and others for patients, for carers, and for family and friends. All material in the website has been checked for quality by Australian health professionals. Pages can be read online or they can be printed and read later”.

Dying Matters Coalition – „In 2009, the National Council for Palliative Care (NCPC) set up the Dying Matters Coalition to promote public awareness of dying, death and bereavement. It is chaired by Professor Mayur Lakhani, who is a practising GP. The work of the Coalition is supported by NCPC’s Board of Trustees”.

Edmonton Zone Palliative Care Program – „Here at the Edmonton Zone Palliative Care Program we strive for excellence in Palliative Care. Through education, research and patient/family care we have one of the best palliative care programs in the country. We have a number of resources available for you whether you are looking for basic palliative care definitions or clinical tools”.

End of Life care information – „This website is designed to assist you with any questions you might have as a patient or carer. Information covers what to expect when someone is dying, looking after yourself while caring and what happens after someone dies”.

European Association for Palliative Care – „The European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) was established on 12 December 1988, with 42 founding members and following important initiatives by Professor Vittorio Ventafridda and the Floriani Foundation. The aim of the EAPC is to promote palliative care in Europe and to act as a focus for all of those who work, or have an interest, in the field of palliative care at the scientific, clinical and social levels”.

International Children’s Palliative Care Network – „The International Children’s Palliative Care Network (ICPCN) is a worldwide network of individuals and agencies working with children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions”.

Marie Curie Cancer Care – „The charity dedicated itself to:

  • providing specialist homes for the care of cancer patients

  • providing nursing for patients at home

  • educating the public on the symptoms and treatment of cancer

  • providing urgent welfare needs

At the time these ideas were quite revolutionary and the Marie Curie Memorial Foundation quickly established itself as a leader in the field of improving facilities for cancer patients”.

National Council for Palliative Care – „The National Council for Palliative Care (NCPC) is the umbrella charity for all those involved in palliative, end of life and hospice care in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We believe that everyone approaching the end of life has the right to the highest quality care and support, wherever they live, and whatever their condition. We work with government, health and social care staff and people with personal experience to improve end of life care for all”.

St Christopher’s Hospice – „Founded by Dame Cicely Saunders in 1967 St Christopher’s Hospice was the first modern hospice, now providing the highest quality care to over 2,000 dying individuals each year on our inpatient wards and in people’s own homes. Dame Cicely‘s vision and work transformed the care of the dying and the practice of medicine. The ongoing impact of St Christopher’s clinical innovations and our extensive programmes of education and research improve care for dying people well beyond our geographical location and influence standards of healthcare throughout the world”.
