Abstract

The debate about the ethical education of managers who can meet today's challenges, both in terms of taking social responsibility and the ability to resist the temptation to immoral activities, focuses on a few fundamental issues. This article attempts to reconstruct the main arguments that lie at the bottom of the debate and to show the complex character of the requirement to provide ethical education to managers. The first part of this article calls attention to ethical issues in education at the university level centered on questions about its advisability and the possible methods of its implementation. The second part is devoted to an analysis of the assumptions, methods and potential ethical consequences of programs implemented by companies. These programs represent a unique form of ethical education, which is provided to managers and employees performing official duties and therefore should be considered not only in the context of direct benefits to concrete companies, but also in terms of its impact on the general moral infrastructure of the world economy.
